Success is not a gift, it is the result of sharpened skills and refined character. Step up, develop your competence, and become unstoppable.

I still remember that day in 2003, seated among other young ministers in one of our training sessions when Dr. Bishop David Abioye shared a statement that completely shifted my perspective. He said, “Ministry is a personal development adventure.”

That day, something exploded inside me.

Until then, I believed ministry was only about preaching and winning souls for Christ. But his words unlocked a new dimension in me: that ministry is life development, and life development is destiny enlargement.

Since then, I made a lifelong commitment to developing competence in diverse areas — not for personal ambition, but to fulfill my God-given vision. I pushed the boundaries of what it means to be a minister, and God began to open doors that made my entire calling relevant and impactful.

From my journey so far, here are the fields where I have consciously built competence:

  1. I trained as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court, where I counsel individuals, institutions, and governments.
  2. I built structures in leadership development by founding Faithhouse Leadership Church and Faithhouse Leadership Academy, training leaders for national transformation.
  3. I contributed to education and academic reform through institutions like our proposed Lead Edge University and DCHOLL.
  4. I have authored over 100 leadership books, manuals, and national development series.
  5. Through public speaking, I have spoken at conferences for women, youths, ministers, and professionals.
  6. In business and consulting, I lead Lead Edge Consult, where I mentor CEOs, SMEs, and entrepreneurs.
  7. I ventured into media and broadcasting to design impact-driven communication platforms.
  8. I continue to mentor and coach professionals across law, ministry, governance, and education.
  9. As a spiritual leader and nation builder, I am raising reformers with a strong sense of purpose for Africa.
  10. I have traveled across several West African nations, gaining cross-cultural insights and deepening my intellectual depth.

Hear me clearly: whether you are a doctor, lawyer, teacher, engineer, entrepreneur, designer, media personnel, policy maker, artisan, trader, pastor, or musician — you must develop competence beyond mere certificates. Success is not the result of wishful thinking but the harvest of refined skills and proven character.

Let me remind you: God does not bless laziness or indifference. Even Jesus, the greatest teacher, grew in wisdom and stature (Luke 2:52).

Competence makes your voice credible.

Competence makes your light visible.

Competence draws the right opportunities into your life.

If you remain ordinary in a world that rewards extraordinary value, you will be ignored. But if you sharpen your edge, you won’t just be noticed — you will become a standard-setter in your field.

“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” — Proverbs 22:29

You are not too old to upgrade.

You are not too young to start.

Push yourself, develop your mind, and align your competence with your calling.
