If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done
MASTER THE ART OF ACTING IN IMPERFECT CONDITIONS
Thirteen years ago, we invited a respected education consultant — sharp, well-dressed, with an impressive portfolio — to assess our dream of starting the Global African Leadership Secondary School.
She listened quietly, then folded her arms and calmly said:
“This vision is too big. You don’t have the manpower. You don’t have the money. Give it 10 years before you even think of starting.”
Her words hit like ice water. My team went silent. It felt like being told to bury my dream alive.
But something inside me refused to let “perfect conditions” become the jailer of my destiny. That same September, we opened the school. No big money. No large staff. No flawless plan. Just vision, grit, and faith.
Today, the school stands tall as proof that vision doesn’t wait for ideal weather — it moves in the storm.
The same with our church. We had no members, no sound system, no offering, no equipment — just me, my wife, our little baby, and a holy fire in our hearts.
“Plan first,” they said.
“Wait until everything is in place,” they advised.
We started anyway.
Now, 15 years later, we own property, and thousands of lives have been transformed.
Even my marriage began in imperfect conditions. When my bishop and parents asked, “How much have you saved?” the answer was almost nothing. They spoke of budgets and timelines. I listened… then chose faith over figures.
Nineteen years later, that marriage is still standing strong — proof that the “perfect start” is a myth.
LESSONS FROM IMPERFECT CONDITIONS
Planning is setting goals, strategies, and resources in order.
Imperfect conditions are the messy, incomplete, inconvenient realities where dreams are born.
When these two collide, you stand at the intersection of destiny and delay. Many never cross — they wait forever for the stars to align.
But Ecclesiastes 11:4 (NLT) declares:
“If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done.”
WHY MANY MISS THEIR MOMENT
- They want to start a business but are still “researching” instead of selling.
- They want ministry but are “waiting for confirmation.”
- They want wealth but are still “calculating capital.”
By the time they “feel ready,” someone else — who dared to start in imperfect conditions — has already taken the field.
Life is too short to wait for all the traffic lights to turn green before you move.
✅ Launch the business.
✅ Dare the ministry.
✅ Pursue the career.
✅ Write the book.
✅ Start the project.
You’ll never have all the money, connections, or skills you think you need at the beginning. But if you move, help will find you.
Stop waiting for the rain to stop — dance in it.
